By admin on May 22, 2012

I am interested in knowing what among the available options for distance learning in ME/MTech (Comp. Sc) would be a fair choice. I am interested in pursuing a masters in computer science engineering through the distance mode. I am based out of Hyderabad, India. Will appreciate any information provided.

Where would this go in a resume?

By admin on May 22, 2012

So I’m in a small group helping one of my computer science professors for the summer with a couple of projects related to his research. It’s not really officially “research” though (I’m not paid or anything; everyone there volunteered because they had interest), but the experience I get I think is pretty valuable. Where would this go on a resume? “Activities” (along with my positions in some clubs)? “Experience” (where I also include some volunteer work done in high school)? I’m currently an undergraduate Read more [...]

If you want to go into green polymers, is it okay to do a dual degree in chemical engineering and physics?

By admin on May 22, 2012

I’m talking about making organic polymers, like organic/biodegradable plastic. Someone I know wants to study this but his parents won’t pay if he studies physics along with the engineering. They say all the physics he will need will be covered in his chemical engineering curriculum, and that an extra physics degree will be a waste of time, energy and most importantly, MONEY! The truth is he wants to study physics as a personal interest, and thought that if he approached his parents with the whole Read more [...]

Any Actuaries?

By admin on May 22, 2012

I’m 20 years old and currently work full-time doing clerical work for the State of New Jersey, and go to school full-time at my local community college. I’m quickly approaching the point where I have to decide on what school I’m going to transfer to once I get my Associates degree. I was thinking about leaving my full-time job, and seeking part-time employment when I transfer to another school. Of course, leaving my job and taking out loans is a huge financial risk seeing how I live on my own. For Read more [...]

Do I have any good qualities or am I just a complete loser (be honest)?

By admin on May 22, 2012

(didn’t get enough answers last time) Here are some of my bleak and meager qualities in random order: BTW, I’m 29 1) calm in all situations, never angry, never out of control 2) polite to everybody 3) never had a friend, yet i’m easy to get along with, as my roommates would attest to 4) i don’t talk much, sometimes go months without talking to anybody 5) i have a bachelor in physics and i’m doing a second bachelor in computer science and i was on the track team (middle distance) 6) i have mostly Read more [...]

What’s the best java textbook that provides actual examples with written code?

By admin on May 21, 2012

So i took basic computer programming and advanced computer programming this year in school and learned a lot of the basic structures of programming. Unfortunately, there wasn’t much that we could do because of the lack of cooperation from the class (none of the students in the class cared about it, they just needed credits). Aside from those students, a few of my friends, including me actually are interested in programming and computer science, so we decided to take AP Comp Sci. this coming school Read more [...]
