How can I find help with employment and housing in Monterey California if I have a criminal history?
I have a friend who has come to visit me from another state. We are both over 45 years old and our fathers were both in the Army intelligence on the east coast. He has had a troubled life like myself except he has a criminal history on the east coast. It started when he was a teenager and he was sentenced to maximum security prisons from the age of 22 through 32. He is done with parole and has changed with age. No drugs or alcohol. For the two years I have observed him personally he is definitely Read more [...]
Programmers! Which degree is better? Which has greater employment opportunities ?
I’m a college student and currently taking up BS in Computer Science. I want to know which degree is better, BS in Information Technology or BS in Computer Science? I want to know which one would give me more job opportunities after graduating. I really need to know if its worth to finish BsComsci than BSIT because BsComsci in our school takes 4yrs to finish and BSIT takes 2and a half to 3yrs only. I don’t want to waste time and money if both are almost the same and if both will give the same opportunities Read more [...]
CIA employment…?
So, I was wondering how tough the selection process is, I’ll have my AS in criminal justice and a 4-year in Computer science. I speak spanish fluently, can speak arabic and basic conversational zulu (not kidding). I haven’t lived abroad, or traveled abroad for that matter, and haven’t been in any trouble with the law. Would I have a good chance of even being considered???
Is it okay not to minor in anything?
I’m a second year computer science major and have not really thought about minoring in anything until now? Does having a minor mean anything, in regards to employment? i.e. if I minored in business would that help me get a better job after I graduate?
Adding programming skills to a bachelor’s degree: University or College?
I have a BSc degree in engineering (mechanical) but would like to acquire further skills toward working as a programmer in the IT industry. I’ve been accepted into a Computer Science program at a university and they will let me start in 3rd year. My other option is to go to a technical school, which also seems appealing and is much cheaper. Which option would yield more opportunities of employment? Would the CS degree allow me to go much further than the college program, given that I have Read more [...]
How important is GPA when finding a job? Do Employers really care about GPA? Or experience more?
Ok, heres my story. Like every human being, I made a mistake and messed around too much one semester and screwed up my GPA. After some calculations I noticed I will graduate with at best a cumulative GPA of 2.8, worst case scenario, a 2.6. So just HOW IMPORTANT is GPA to MOST employers? In my resume and employment preperation class, our professor said most employers don’t even look at you seriously unless you have a 3.0-3.5 GPA. However, I am a major in CS/IT (Computer Science/Information Technology) Read more [...]
Trying to figure out a career?
I really want to go to college to get a degree that will get me a decent career with job security and a very high chance at employment straight after graduation. I’m not really interested in either of these particularly, but I’ve been told I would be good at both of these. I’m in my 2nd year of college, majoring in Psychology (which I really don’t find that interesting anymore), and taking most liberal arts classes. Should I change my major to computer science or accounting?
Mass Media for employment?
I am a junior and mass media major at college. Now I am thinking about changing my major to computer science since I wanna get into the computer field…but if I change my major now, I will have to stay one more year at college. Do you think this’ll be worth it? I mean mass media deals with computers too, but I’m not sure how employers would think when one with a mass media degree applies for a computer science job… Thanks P.S. I don’t need to hear “ask your advisor or school”.
