What type(s) of job(s) would the army and/or air force have a computer science major do?

Do you have a Bachelors? You should look into going the officer route, you get paid WAY more then an enlisted soldier. As far as jobs go that would be discussed with the recruiter!
If you have a degree and student loans, and can score well enough on the ASVAB, then you can get student loan repayment from the army. You will also select the occupation that you will do while in the army, based solely on the ASVAB.
I was a recruiter for the army, and I can tell you this: the army will not change your job once you have selected it and taken a contract with the army. The airforce will give you a test that you can pass today, and then later on, never pass. They will do this once you are already signed in and stuck! I saw this happen to more than one young person who wound up with a pathetic occupation in the airforce.
Now, dont get me wrong, the air force is not a bad place to go. But, I wouldn’t like having what I do, chosen by someone else.
For those of you who are going to give me a thumb down because of what I have said, then you need to do some research and find out the truth.
As for what jobs you get to choose from, those are based upon your ASVAB scores and your physical limitations. If you have any criminal history, then that too can effect the job selection. No jobs that require you to keep classified things if you have a drug history. Seen it.

Definitely go officer route, so you can use your degree. The AF will use your skills better than any of the services, as we are generally more technically advanced.
As an enlisted individual, I was working on multi-million dollar satellite communcations systems (computer systems operator), assisting several programs such as NASA and the GPS system.
