I am a 37-year old teacher. I hold a BA in English and got an admission offer
in a Master’s program in computer science. Going to America for studying
has been a long life dream. But it did not come possible until this year
when I could get funds. Some people including my wife said to me that
I am almost 40 and it is time to get a rest in this life!!! I really got mad.
Most people in my community including many of them who are
conducting graduate studies say to me it is better not to go to
graduate school. Their reasons are America is far away from my country
and it is exhausting to leave home. I am now becoming more hesitating,
more than ever in my whole life. I got the chance to accomplish my dream.
I have a family to leave for 2 years unless I get a scholarship from my
government that will surely cover my expenses and my family’s.
What do you think?

A lot of people go to graduate school later in life, it is only recently becoming common to see students going straight out of college.
As to your main questions – no it is never to late to go to graduate school (or any type of school for that matter). I’m glad to see you want to advance your education – go you! As for a PhD – woohoo! Good luck!
As for the other – I can understand why you’d be hesitant to leave your family and such. That should be made as a family choice to see if that is what you should do. What would be best for your family in the long road.

No, it is not too late; you should go.
You will be much happier and satisfied with yourself, your position in life, and your salary if you continue your education. It could actually make you $50k more a year and an enjoyable retirement.

When I was in grad school, I met a number of people who were finishing their PhD in their 40′s, 50′s and 60′s. So 37 is not too late to go to school.

Most legitimate graduate schools will not allow a BA in English to matriculate into a Computer Science Master’s program. You say you have a low GPA…
There are a lot of scam schools in the USA which take the money of foreign students but don’t deliver a real degree. Don’t be a victim.
No it is not too old to go to back to school.
However, I think you should go to undergraduate school given that your degree has nothing to do with computer science. It is not something that you can become a master in if you have not had the previous study beforehand.
Also, please beware of scam schools as previously suggested. I have also never heard of a school that accepts students from such irrelevant degree holders to their computer science program.
