Is a Bachelor of Science in Computer Engineering the same as a Bachelor of Technolgoy in Computer Engineering?
I’m looking at Devry Univeristy online classes and live in NY and it says “Bachelor of Science in Computer Engineering Technology (In New York, degree is Bachelor of Technology in Computer Engineering Technology.)”

Just wondering?
With this degree could I become a Software Engineer/Developer/Programmer…etc etc etc?
I’m not sure of any inexpensive local or online colleges that offer this.

Instead of trying to figure that out, you should realize that DeVry is one of the worst schools you can go to. The chances of you getting a decent job after DeVry is very low. They are not much different than ITT-Tech, employers have no respect for the degree. People will laugh in your face when they see a degree in computer engineering from DeVry. You need to go to a real school if you want to get a even somewhat decent engineering job.
Aero is misinformed. DeVry’s Engineering Technology degrees are actually quite good. They are TAC/ABET-accredited and they are full equivalent to Engineering Technology degrees obtained in a University. When I was recruiting for Engineers and Technologists on the West Coast, I used to prefer DeVry BSEET Electronics Engineering Technology) degrees over CalPoly—Pomona degrees nearby.
HOWEVER, DeVry screwed up big time when it changed its name from DeVry Institute to DeVry University. Previously, DeVry was a good, honest, modest school for decent Technology degrees. After the name change, it expanded into offering degrees it had no business teaching. It’s reputation was severely damaged. DeVry’s non-Technology degrees range from substandard to near-worthless.
As for your other question, Engineering Technology is a lot easier than Engineering. Engineering Technology has a lot less math (maybe only one or two calculus courses), and the emphasis is on practical design rather than pure theory. Also, while Engineers can get a PE License, this is much more difficult for Engineering Technologists, and they get NICET or ATMAE “Certification” instead.
It is possible to get a job title of “Software Engineer” after graduating with a BSCET, but not likely, and your salary and career prospects will be lower. But you can still have a good career as a Software Technologist, Developer, or Programmer.
