Applying to colleges this fall…?
Hi, I want to attend a good university. I am a foreigner/immigrant (senior in high school, class of 2011), and live in Connecticut. Right now, I have a 3.7-ish GPA (unweighted, on a 4.0 scale) and 4.0 weighted and have taken 4 AP classes so far: AP Bio, AP Chem, AP Computer Science and AP US History. Computer Programming For Beginners (10 Points)?
Ok, I’m only a high school student in 11th grade and will be taking AP Computer Science A in 12th grade. I know absolutely nothing about computer programming. The computer science teacher gave me a book to study a little from. Where can I get whatever program I need to do some computer programming at my own computer (Dell XPS, not sure about specifics)? would i get rescinded from UCLA?
I have 1 C (AP STATS), 3 Bs (AP Biology, English 12, American Government), and 1 A (AP Computer Science) That’s a 3.0 GPA…right now… but thing is if it falls…i think i’m out…would they understand if i told them i worked REALLY hard and really explained my situation..? In my junior year i will be taking the following computer science courses: visual Basic 1, Visual Basic 2, Advanced web page design 1, Advanced web page design 2, Intro to computer science-Java. help with a computer science program written in java?
I’m having some difficulty writing a java program for my AP computer science class. it’s entitled “java joe and the temple of doom.” for the program, i need to utilize a 2D array (10 columns, 10 rows) and “java joe” needs to be able to move through the temple and cannot go out of bounds. the temple is made up of the 100 rooms (hence the 10 columns, 10 rows) and each room can only contain one item and there are 8 items, the items placed randomly within the temple rooms. what i’m looking for is not Read more [...]

Questions about AP Computer Science?
Although my school has maybe 12 AP classes, they lack any of the ones I’d like to learn material on(Computer Science, Psychology, and others). What programming languages do I need to learn for AP Computer Science, and how would you suggest I go about learning those free? (Torrents are an option)

Civil Engineering vs Software or Computer Engineering?

I’ve it rock bottom – need some encouragement, please?
I’m 15 years old, a high school sophomore (3 more weeks of school) in a science/math/tech magnet program. It’s very tough – I have to get up at 5:30 in the morning, because I need be driven to the bus stop at 6:20, and the bus ride is about 30 minutes long. There’s only 2 stops for my bus, so you can imagine how far away school is. I take 8 classes; its mandatory for my program.
