Whats wrong with my computer?

By admin on April 4, 2012

Alright. I have a Windows Vista eMachines T5224. Its pretty old like 2007 old. I have had this issue for months and asked on the main eMachines website to only have them not answer my question for jack. Horrible service and FAQs. Anyways, I digress. I keep having an issue where it would go to the start up screen if I were to press ‘F8′. And it stated “Start Up Repair” or “Start Windows Normally”. If I selected my second option it would just bounce back to the same selection. Then if I selected Read more [...]

Why does Microsoft have to make things VERY COMPLICATED for programmers?

By admin on March 24, 2012

I have been studying C in UNIX systems for past few months and now i am trying to learn programming in windows, but it’s just real pain in the ass to catch up what microsoft have been adding to its operating system for past decades. I mean like they have CLR, ATL, MFC, API, CLI, Managed Extensions, .NET framework, toonnnnes of libraries that take ages to read, and even their own version of C++!! WTF! Why can’t they redesign their operating system, clean up all the mess they have done? I mean programming Read more [...]

Which major computer retail company sells laptops with Linux instead of Windows?

By admin on January 30, 2012

I’m a computer science major at university and paying for school myself, and I need to pick up a laptop to do a lot of my work on campus (computer labs don’t have compilers *grumbles*). I’m trying to pick up a cheap laptop with Linux installed on it instead of Windows so that it’ll be cheap and since Linux already has a lot of different compilers installed/apt-getable. Are there any major companies like IBM or HP that sell laptops with Linux (Hell, even the Ubuntu distro)? I think Dell does, but Read more [...]

Should i major in Computer Science or Computer Engineering?

By admin on January 8, 2012

I am still unsure of what I want to study. I understand that Computer Science is about programming but I don’t think that’s what I like doing. I like fixing computers: virus, hardware problems, OS installations and the sort. I have even managed a Windows Server 2003 for an entire week for a High School Business simulation week. I figure I would like to be a Network Administrator because they do all the stuff I like doing but I am unsure what my Major should be?

How hard is it to dual-boot Ubuntu and Windows?

By admin on June 28, 2011

I have run Windows most of my life, and am currently using a desktop with XP. However, I used to have a laptop that ran Ubuntu (9.04 Jaunty Jackalope), after a friend deleted XP off it for me. I loved running Ubuntu, but only ran it for about two months before I had to lose the laptop. Anyway, I’m thinking of getting a netbook or a refurbished laptop in the next two or three months, and I want to put Ubuntu (10.04 Lucid Lynx) on it and use that mostly, but keep Windows (probably Vista or 7) as Read more [...]

Where’s the best place to start learning programming?

By admin on June 7, 2011

I just graduated high school and I am hoping to pursue a degree in Computer Science. I have always loved computers since Windows 3.1 Now I want to get some background in on programming because it seems like it would be a lot of fun for me. I’m taking a year off before college so I want to learn as much as I can before I start. Hopefully I’ll be able to take some AP exams and just get credit for the course without having to take it. Now I have some background in C . Mostly from some of the Read more [...]
