I am a Computer Science major in the Engineering school of University of Virginia. At the end of my 2nd year, I have a 2.9 GPA. I worked very hard for my courses, and still could not maintain good grades. I know that I have 2 more years left, and most of the courses I will be taking are CS courses in which I generally do better than others ( my major GPA is 3.2 ). My question is , If i am unable to get my overall GPA over 3.0 by the time I graduate, will it really hurt my chances of getting a job ?
i think if u are conceptually strong and having good concept about tour field then GPA is not all about your job.your personal skills are also matter in getting a job.and 1 thing i want to tell 2.90 is not a bad GPA.keep trying to boost it up but its also good.
you need to really get a 3.0+ ASAP! I lost 2 chances at internships simply because of GPA. I cannot stress enough how important it is to have at least 3.0
A higher GPA is better of course, but getting a degree in Computer Science trumps consideration of GPA. You will probably get a job, though not for the most prestigious companies. You probably will not get into graduate school, however.
University of Virginia’s Computer Science degree is CAC/ABET-accredited, which is a plus for employers.
No. Jobs only care that you have a bachelors, but having a GPA above 3.0 will help in several cases. For example, if you are apply8ing to a government job, you qualify for a higher grade if your GPA is above 3.0. Also employers like for you to have a higher GPA so they can send you to grad school at some point.
