I’m thinking of applying to the MS program in computer science at Harvard. Now, being a traditionally liberal arts college, will employers actually take this Harvard degree seriously as compared to the computer science guys from Virginia Tech, Carnegie Mellon, University of Maryland, Georgia Tech, etc…? Those schools are a bit more technical if you know what I mean. I’m not sure if Harvard just gives off the impression that it has a really bad computer science program? Will people laugh at a computer science degree from there?
lol how am i trolling? im asking about harvard’s CS program, not their other top notch programs. they’re traditionally weak in the engineering area as compared to even some state schools.
A Harvard University qualification is nothing to sniff at. Sure, it may not be the #1 choice for engineering & computer technology, but it does have value as I know people with a CS degree from that university. That said, why not broaden your choices, if you’re concerned? There’s always MIT, UC Berkeley and Maryland (College Park) for the taking.
You must be a troll.
Harvard CS is ultra cool
They’ll take it as seriously as any other school but they’ll wonder why you didn’t go to MIT or Stanford instead.
