I have a 3.8 GPA and I’m a senior in a all girls Catholic high school. I have been part of student government for 3 years, as french club treasurer my sophomore year, french club vice president my junior year, and national honor society president in my senior year. I have been involve in my school by participating in a lot of clubs such as math and science, debate, glee, french, campus ministry, and our spanish club. I have been in honor roll for 4 years. National Honor Society for 3 years. California Scholarship Federation for 4 years. I was in the jv basketball team my sophomore year. I have volunteering hours of experience in helping my elderly neighbor, helping teachers, and volunteering at a gift shop. I also have work experience for two years. I scored low in my sat and I got a 1140. In my sat2, I got a 590 in french, and a 390 in us history. Do I have a chance to get accepted into Stanford, UCLA, USC, LMU, UCB, UCSD, UCI and USD with a computer engineer as an undergrad major? Do I have a greater chance, since I am a girl who is black african not born in the US, and a minority? I’m really worried, help!!!!!!
I think you have a chance at LMU, UCI, USD …………..but not as good of a chance at USC, UCLA, UCB or Stanford.
I am assuming your SAT scores are only for CR and Math not all three subjects. Your SAT is going to hurt you.
Contrary to what you have been told being a minority will not help you get in to any Public Cal school I know someone whose GPA was 4.3 and they got denied from UCLA and Stanford and they were a minority. Yet that does not mean that no one with under a 4.3 got into those schools. Each person is different. Look a sites like collegeboard.com and college confidential to get an idea of who is getting accepted into where.
Good Luck!
