Why is it so hard to find an internship?

I am a computer science graduate student at USC majoring in computer graphics and web technology field. I sent out tons of resume but only got a few phone calls and one interview. Is it because I suck or what? How to get internship??

    Here are some ideas that may help:

    - Try calling the HR or recruiting department of your target employers and ask them for a list of open internships available then apply directly to the hiring manager.
    - Ask your professors and TAs for assistance. If they are in the industry, they should have some contacts. Networking is usually the best way to get hired.
    - Attend industry shows and ask around for networking opportunities.
