I did not get a very competitive SAT score and so I got admission in University of Georgia, Texas A&M, Purdue and University of Wisconsin Madison for a major in computers(engineering or computer science). Considering all the rankings, environment, fees and other things, I like UW Madison the best out of the lot, but my brother thinks that I should go in Purdue as it has a better rank for engineering. But I have heard that surviving in Purdue is kind of tough as they give a lot of assignments and tests. I still have to receive an answer from University of Michigan( which I am quite sure I won’t get) and also in UT Texas( again quite sure won’t get in as my essays were shit). I have also applied in Canada In University of Toronto( which I am sure I will get in) and in University of Waterloo( which I am not exactly sure as to whether I will get in or not). Their decisions will come in May. So I am very confused as to where to go.
The schools are about the same, they are all fine.
Purdue’s girls aren’t very attractive, and Lafayette is crummy. But that’s nothing compared to the yetis at A&M.
You may be personally disappointed in your SAT, but if you’ve been accepted to the schools you list, then you have nothing to complain about. Those are all very good schools. Purdue is probably the best engineering program of the lot you list.
That all said, why would you ***want*** to enroll in a program that was less rigorous? If you’re disappointed in your SAT, it suggests that you wanted to get into even better schools, which suggests that you’re willing to work very hard for your goals. If you have the opportunity to excel, why wouldn’t you?
Last… ignore the stupid comments about which school has more attractive students. If you’re smart enough to get admitted to Purdue, you ought to be smart enough to know that (a) those sorts of generalizations aren’t true and (b) don’t matter.
Good luck!
GO-TO-WISCONSIN.
Wisconsin’s comp. sci program is amazing, as they are nationally accredited at a full university… so you can’t go wrong.
The campus life is spectacular, as is everything else.
I’m considering Purdue, too… It’s a nice school, but you can’t have a car… which sucks.
It’s only obvious: Wisconsin.
