1.University of Wisconsin–La Crosse (Mid-west ranking is 22)
2.Sonoma State University (West ranking is 36)
3.Western Michigan University (National 3rd tier ranking)
I am wondering which one above is the best choice for my MS degree of computer science program.
Please give me any suggestion or your personal experience in these universities with an overall estimation from their Reputation, Tuition, Living Expense, Faculty, Equipment, Surrounding or Job opportunity.
Besides, according to the rankings from USNews.com, does that indicate universities in regional ranking is less well-known in the other states than National ranking?
If so, does it mean job opportunities is less than the state where I am graduated?
I went to Sonoma for a semester and absolutely hated it!! There is absolutely nothing to do except for drink or go to the taco bell close by. All of my friends that went there left too. Good luck!
I don’t know much about the first two, but I have two older brothers who attended Western Michigan (one majoring in computer science). They both loved it at Western, but it is definitely a party school so be prepared for that. If you’re more the quiet type, just be prepared for some very drunk kids all the time
.
Whenever I visited my brothers, I had a blast! I love Western and I love Kalamazoo. Living expenses are relatively cheap (I live in Ann Arbor so anything is cheaper to me..) My brother graduated with a degree in computer science (and spend the majority of his time there drinking) and got a good job right after graduation.
Good luck!
